The small forward spent his last season in Hungary, first in MOL Szolnoki Olajbanyasz (HUN-A Division), then in Univer where he moved in January 2006. CZARNI SŁUPSK (POLAND) AGREED WITH TOMASZ ZABŁOCKI
Former Astoria Bydgoszcz wingman Tomasz Zabłocki (202-F-78) has agreed terms with Energa Czarni Słupsk. The power forward was also tested by Turow's coach Filipovski, but finally landed in Czarni. Zablocki, who spent most of his carrier in Turow (1996-2005), had the averages of 7.3 ppg and 1.9 rpb in Bydgoszcz last season. Thanks to the signing Czarni have the required number of Polish players in their roster.

Julia Demirer (184-F-81) signed one year agreement with AZS KK Jelenia Góra. American forward which holded also polish passport was top player of Swedish and Austrian top division. With Umea Comets she averaged double double with 13 ppg, 13 rpg and was 2nd leading Rebounder in league. From January till May 2006 Demirer lead Basket Duchess Klosternueberg to Silver Medal in Austrian Final Championship and she averaged double double points and rebounds with almost 18 ppg, 15 rpg.

Dragisa Drobnjak (200-F-77) has finally signed one-year deal with polish DBL league team Turow Zgorzelec. Last season he spent in Olimpija Ljubljana averaging : in Euroleague - 6.6 ppg., 4.1 rpg ; in Adriatic League - 7.6 ppg., 5.1 rpg. ; in Slovenian League - 10.5 ppg., 4.4 rpg. He will be first foreign player just contracted by team of coach Saso Filipovski. Player signed in cooperation with our partner - VTBM.

AMERICAN SIGNINGS BY PROMOTEX IN JELENIA GÓRA (POLAND)
It might be quite shocking for some basketball fans in Poland, but it's true. AZS KK Jelenia Gora - the team relegated from PLKK, who will be still playing in Premier Division thanks to 'wild card', signed two American players.: Lakiste Barkus (175-G-82) and Jocelyn Penn (186-F-79). It was possible because of much bigger team's budget than year ago.

The first new player is 24-year-old playmaker Lakiste Barkus, who signed on July 17th. Barkus was a year ago first-team player in Louisiana Tech university, with stats of 12.5 ppg, 3.6 rpg, 3.3 apg and 1.9 ppg. After their dream of playing in WMNA failed, she moved to Icelandic Keflavik and was voted Guard of the year (with impressing 23.3 ppg and 8.0 rpg averages) as she helped the team to became vice-champion. AZS's coach Rafal Sroka said Lakiste Barkus will strengthen the team in middle Semptember.

Few days later, AZS KK confirmed Jocelyn Penn 's (186-F-79) signing. Penn is 27-year-old power forward. After very good season in NCAA's South Carolina, she find her difficult to become WNBA star, so she moved to Israel (Maccabi Ashdod - 13.2 ppg, 5.2 rpg), then went back for a year to America to play for NWBL's Lubbock Hawks, but return to Europe - to Croatian Croatia Zagreb (12 ppg in FIBA EuroCup). AZS KK board and coaches hope that both Penn and Barkus will be not only stars of the team, but also players who could help Polish teammates develop, and the club will fight for something more than against relegation.

After Piotr Szybilski and Tomasz Milewski the board of directors of Basket Kwidzyn signed another players and choose our guards:. Hubert Mazur (190-G-84) and Grzegorz Mordzak (183-G-77). First of them agreed terms with club and details only left to completely acception. Hubert Mazur played for Spojnia Stargard Szczecinski last season where he averaged: 16.3 ppg., 4.4 rpg. and 1.4 apg. Mordzak played last season in CSK 1924 Czeladz. Moreover Tomasz Andrzejewski returned to the club.

LEONCZYK'S BIG NIGHT HELPS POLAND BEAT IRELAND ? EC
Polish U20 national team remained undefeated atop group A as they edged Ireland 79:72 in the second game of the European Championship division B in Portugal. Promotex player Pawel Leonczyk (202-F-86) was the key player for the winners as he notched double-double with 17 points and a game-high 18 rebounds. Tomasz Ochonko added 12 points while Pawel Kikiowski finished with 11. Poland was strong on the board as they outrebounded Ireland 39-20. Tomorrow Polish NT faces winless Great Britain.
